Price lists and item prices

The bookshop buys an exercise book for KES 50 and sells it for KES 80. Separate buying and selling price lists keep those two rates from being confused. A quantity break can describe a different rate for bulk purchases.

Create a price list

  1. Open Products > Price lists > Price lists and select New price list.
  2. Enter a name, direction and currency. The key is optional.
  3. Enable Default for this currency only when this is the intended default for that direction and currency.
  4. Create the list, then open Item prices.
A price list has a direction and currency; default status is scoped to that pair.

Add an item price

  1. Select New item price and choose the price list and item.
  2. Select the unit and enter the rate. For the example, the selling rate is KES 80 per each.
  3. Review minimum quantity, Valid from and Valid to. Save the price.
  4. Prepare a relevant draft purchase or sale and verify the rate actually selected for its date, quantity, unit and currency.

When a rate does not match

  • Check buying versus selling direction and the selected currency.
  • Check the unit, minimum quantity and validity dates.
  • Review any applicable pricing rule. Do not assume a new catalogue price changes previously submitted documents.
