Introduction to products
Demo School buys exercise books, sells uniforms and charges for an activity programme. These belong in one catalogue, but they do not behave the same way: books and uniforms are stock, while an activity charge is a service.

- From Desktop, open Products > Items.
- Find the existing item or create it with the correct type, base unit and account defaults.
- For physical stock, agree the tracking and valuation setup before receiving it.
- Add variants and prices where needed, then use the item in the relevant purchase or sale.

Catalogue setup is not a stock movement
Creating an item does not, by itself, prove that goods were received. An opening-stock option has its own quantity, warehouse and valuation requirements. Subsequent goods movements belong to purchasing, delivery or inventory documents.
